    The legislators who opposed this bill because it gives an unfair tax advantage to numismatic coin collectors, should first recognize the unfairness of having to pay ordinary income tax versus capital gains. In other words, both bullion and collectible coins are unfairly taxed under the current system.

    An easy compromise would be to exempt the collectible coin’s bullion value from tax, and any gain above bullion value subject to capital gains. Now, you have a true level playing field.
